Weight bearing??

Well its been just over 3 weeks since my accident and all is going well. I found some research about full weight bearing after surgery. The research I found shows faster recovery times and no problems. In almost all cases from multiple studies from different universities there was no issues. I am still using my crutches for getting around but my leg feels strong even though the muscle looks like its deteriorating away fast. Kind of scary when comparing legs, need to find some more weight strengthening exercises. I think if I can just get muscle back in my thigh I would be full weight bearing with no problems. Going to Palm Springs for few days with girlfriend. Its her fathers birthday and I was lucky enough to get invited and all paid for too! Very thankful for his generosity and wanting me there to celebrate with him and family. This time Ill play it safe, nothing crazy so I will be coming back in one piece. Wish me luck!

Healing

I started formally 2 days ago using the Law of Attraction for healing my leg. If your not sure what I am referring to go to www.thesecret.tv and watch the movie. It will be truly the most life changing experience you can imagine. I have used the Secret in the past to fix my back injury when doctors have given up on me and to get me off of heavy amount of pain pills and varoius other pills. After approx 3 years of back injury with nothing working that the doctors could do my mom used the secret and found me a book 3 Minutes to a Pain Free Life. I used the stretches in the book and on the 4th day I woke up with zero pain. First time in 3 years! Now the task of no pills. That took little bit more time but after I truly beleived in The Secret I was off pills in 7 days with no withdrawls. I spent 4 months before this time just sick all the time trying to reduce but wasnt working. The power of gratitude is amazing!
All my research I can find on the Internet states that I have minimum 3 months, or longer before I can resume normal activitys. I feel with allmy heart that it will be 2 months or less and using the law of attraction, I will accomplish it.
It's been 18 days since my leap at the thunderdome and I have made some really good progress towards my healing. I can sit in a chair with my knee bent with very little discomfort, sleep on both sides instead of just flat on my back. The pain medicine is no longer needed on regular intervals. Example is I took one 5mg oxy yesterday and could have skipped that all together. I took it for precautionary measures. I had to drive 30 minutes, sit in chair for hour that was very uncomfortable last visit week before and drive home. Just for people that think its not safe to drive on oxy I have the time table down for my body. 40 minutes before it kicks in and 90 minutes and its pretty much over which matches my drive sober and out of me before I drive again.
Off to do my strecthes and watch the movie The Secret.

Doctor visit

Went to the doctor today to get all the staples removed. Four cuts for the screws, two just above the knee and two just below the hip. The rod runs from my knee to hip inside the femur, the screws are there to hold in in place. Then on the side of my thigh two large cuts few inches apart, I guess that where they put in the rod and moved the muscle out of the way. All in all 6 cuts with about 24 staples, one rod and 4 screws. I cant wait to go the the airport and go through the metal detector. Now the part that really sucks is all the tape residue marks all over my leg, gonna take many showers to scrub that off. Found some wipes that claim to take off the tape markings, really excited but it failed miserably. Oh well, that's the least of my concerns or should be, just annoying.
Since I dont have insurance found free clinic to help me. Waited 2 1/2 hours to be seen and was done in 5 minutes, got some good info though for future visits so worth every minute! Got new excercise to do and visit with an ortho doctor in few weeks to check my progress.

Day to day

Well it seems as though things are starting to get better. My daily routine that I took for granted like walking, driving, cooking, etc.. is amazing how much work is involved when you have to use crutches for every task you do. Just to get up and go to the bathroom is a major task. Try sitting on a toilet is a crazy balancing act! I am joined by my crutches in the shower. My toes are farther away then ever before. Putting on underwear, next to impossible, socks, impossible, thank god for flip flops. Good news is found some great stretches on a website for physical therapy for broken femur. http://www.ssoc.co.za/femur-fracture.html In just a few days of using the stretches I can finally sit in a chair with my leg bent almost at a 90. My swelling is almost gone, still bruised all over my leg but purple color fading. Pain is still there but reduced my 5mg oxycodone to just 2 per day. Started 2 weeks ago with endocet 10/325, 4 to 5 per day. Saw my doctor and was told leg looking good. I hope to have full range of motion in next couple weeks. Then start strength training.

Road to recovery

It's now been 2 weeks since my fall. The reality of it all is really setting in. I am a father of a wonderful little girl, had a great job, and girlfriend. Now my finances are ruined, medical bills are piling up, my job is on hold but not sure if there will be my position when healthy again, girlfriend?? I can't go get the school clothes I promised my daughter, school lunches are expensive. My whole cost of living seems just overwhelming right now. I owe for my trip for money I borrowed so I could make my first burn. It is crazy how excited I was for this trip, looking forward to a week of fun with girlfriend and all the new people to meet. I pretty much ruined the trip for girlfriend also, well if asked I did ruin the trip. So enough with the negative. The short amount of time that was spent on the playa was good. The spirit of burning man and your neighbors helping out, the whole meaning of one big community was felt. From the first moment of just setting up camp all the helping hands. I did get to see the man burn from some really nice neighbors that took us in there art car. Otherwise I never would have seen it. I am very thankful for that. I set up a donation through paypal for anyone who would like to donate until I get back on both my feet. Thank you to everyone ahead of time and will like to meet more burners next year.

Burning Man gone wrong

August 29th arrived at burning man, set up camp and looking forward to an exciting time with my girlfriend. September 1st, not even 8 hours from arrival I was jumping off this dome approx 30ft onto these large blue mats. Seemed safe enough, many people were landing just fine. My first 2-3 attempts no problems. I decided it was time for bed since it was 2 in the morning but ill jump one more time. Should have went to bed, I missed the mat from about 30 feet up hitting the Playa below and broke my femur. Had to be flown out by Heli to Reno for surgery right away. In less then 12 hours from arrival I am in a hospital bed with a metal rod in my left femur with screws holding in place. What a way to start my vacation.
